New learning support teacher

A big warm welcome to our new learning support teacher who started with us this year,  Ms Claire Chambers. She will be involved in team teaching two full days per week.

Welcome to our new pupils

We welcomed six new junior infant pupils to Ahiohill National Shool last week.

Cuskinny Adventure Centre

Ms. Holland’s room will go on their tour to “Cuskinny Adventure Centre” in Cobh on Friday, June 10th. All children must bring a packed lunch, plenty to drink, sunscreen/rain jacket depending on Irish weather! Bus will leave at 9.00am and will return at 3.45pm. Cost €25.

Swiss students visiting

2 Swiss students are starting in Ahiohill N.S. for 3 weeks on Tuesday, June 7th. They are advanced student teachers from the Zurich University of Teacher Education.( “ The main objective of the Assistant Teachership is to give advanced student teachers an opportunity to experience classroom life as well as the language of the curriculum and of the classroom in an English speaking context. “Assistant Teachers” are advanced students of our Zurich University of Teacher Education participating in this project. This programme is part of the regular training of primary school teachers with a component of English. The programme consists of a three-week period in which the student teacher works in a primary school in the English-speaking world.) This is a successful partnership that Ahiohill N.S. has done before.

Cork City Sports

Tomorrow (Wednesday, June 1st) anyone going to City Sports must be in school for 9.00am, wearing school sports uniform, jerseys will be provided for running. Bring plenty of food/drinks. No money is required. Make sure children have sunscreen if weather continues. Bus should be back in school by 3.05pm.

Reminder: No school on Friday, June 3rd or Monday June 6th for Bank Holiday.

Friendship week

We are running “Friendship Week” for the children in the school, to promote positive relationships as part of our S.P.H.E. initiative. It will double as a fundraiser for Amnesty International. Friendship activities will take place during the week. Each child will get a friendship bracelet – a donation of €2 towards charity can be contributed, however there is no pressure for same.
